[E-2-1] Foreign Language Instructor

E-2-1 Foreign Language Instructor 


- Eligible applicants or activities allowed - 

A person who meets the qualifications determined by the Minister of Justice, and plans to teach conversational language at a foreign language institute, affiliated- language research institute or educational institute of higher than elementary school, or language training institute affiliated with an enterprise or broadcasting company, or other equivalent organization.


The visa issuance will be determined after reviewing your visa application documents. (Approximately, 2 weeks) 



NOTE: Applicant must have a  [Confirmation of Visa Issuance(비자발급인정서)]

1. Visa application form 

※ You must fill it out without leaving any section blank and put your name and signature on the last page. 


2. Original (physical, actual) passport  (The passport must have more than 6 months of validity) 


3. (1) Passport size photo taken within 6 months


4. Original (physical, actual)  U.S. green card or long-term visa (if the visa applicant is not U.S. passport holder)  


5. Original (physical, actual)  ID issued by Hawaii State


6. Original contract (A written contract must be signed by both parties to be legally enforceable.)


7. Business Certificate of language institute (사업자등록증)


8. Degree certificate (physical, actual:. It must be the original hardcopy and we do not accept any electronic signature.) 


9. Visa processing fee, cash only $45 for US Citizen) ※ Fees vary depending on nationality

* Please note that there can be additional documents required by the Consulate after the Consulate reviews your visa application documents*


 - Individuals automatically receive South Korean nationality at birth if at least one parent is a South Korean national,

 whether they are born within the Republic of Korea or US, in that case, he or she must submit followings; 

- Birth certificate(physical, actual), Copy of Naturalization certificate and passport of parents 

   ※ Additional documents or paper works may required. 

- If the applicant were previously Korean citizen, you must submit proof of renunciation of nationality(physical, actual)



Please note that not following the proper procedure to apply for a visa can automatically result in denial of visa. 


- The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Honolulu serves Hawaii State and American Samoa. 

Our office only accepts visa applications residing in our jurisdiction.  


- Consider the visa processing time before you schedule your trip to Korea.     


- All visa applicants are responsible for preparing their visa application and any documents they submit. 

The Consulate does not provide any pre-reviewing service for visa application. If any information or documents 

submitted along with the visa applications are verified as false statements or falsified, they will cause 

denial of visa issuance and may prevent future visa applications without any notice.


- The Consulate is not under obligation to explain to the applicant about the reason for denial.


- Furthermore, any verbal abuse or unlawful behavior and actions are grounds for denial of visa issuance 

and may prevent future visa applications.  Customers with the following disruptive, violent, and illegal behaviors 

will be denied issuance of visa for 3 years:

o Ranting, profanity, threatening, throwing objects at the consular staff, and imposing undue influence 

and power.

o Providing false statements, submitting falsified documents, and altering original documents


Please be reminded that any unlawful behaviors and actions, including the above mentioned, will result in denied 

issuance of visa.
